This upcoming horror-comedy zombie series is the latest addition to the video-on-demand service’s TV series library—find out why you shouldn’t miss it.
I have a confession to make: I’m probably the Scrooge (or Grinch, depending on the generation you hail from) of Halloween. I’m a huge scaredy-cat and I no longer party. I know a lot of people can relate to my issues with Halloween, so if, like me, you’re staying home on October 31, or your friends and family want to hold a horror video marathon, here’s one way to go about it: Suggest that you catch the highly anticipated American horror comedy television series Ash vs. Evil Dead, which will have its Asian premier on the same day as the US telecast this Halloween exclusively on HOOQ, Asia’s biggest video-on-demand service, in partnership with Starz Entertainment.
The modern reboot of the Evil Dead trilogy (The Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, and Army of Darkness) that defined the zombie genre, Ash vs. Evil Dead premieres worldwide on Saturday, Oct. 31, and HOOQ will be the first and only platform in Asia to offer the series on the same day as the US. It’s from the creators of the iconic movie trilogy—director Sam Raimi and horror icon Bruce Campbell, who will come together again to bring back the beloved and celebrated world of Evil Dead for the original television series made for Starz.
This series that has horror fans, critics, and film enthusiasts abuzz sees Campbell reprising his role as Ash Williams from the original Evil Dead series, the chainsaw-wielding, monster-shredding slacker. Anti-hero Ash, now somewhat aged but still quick-witted as ever, fights the forces of evil that turn unsuspecting people and inanimate objects into wise-cracking killing machines called Deadites. Enjoy “splat-stick” humor at its finest as the offbeat and endearing characters find themselves in gruesomely hilarious situations with Deadites—making for a viewing experience that’s less Walking Dead and more “mocking dead.”
Ash vs. Evil Dead also features franchise newcomers Lucy Lawless, Mimi Rogers, and Jill Marie Jones. The first season of the show will feature 10 half-hour episodes of events getting worse and worse for Williams as he tries to contain the evil Deadites. To learn more about A.V.E.D., click here.
