I was transported to Spring in the US at Aeropostale’s recent fashion show. Even if I’m twice the age of their models, I can’t help but covet some of the outfits I saw on the runway. View them here.

Oh, how I wish I had the fashion choices teens have these days when I was still in school! There are way more brands now where they can shop for school, gimmick, weekend, and even gym clothes than we used to have over a decade ago. Sigh. But all’s not lost. I’d daresay some of the pieces from Aeropostale’s Spring 2016 collection can still be worn by people in their 30s (like me) who have the style, guts, and personality for it, haha.

Aéropostale’s Spring 2016 fashion trends are influenced by Spring Break and the warm weather—perfect for our summer, since wala naman tayong Spring, haha. The collection was recently showcased at a fashion show in Bonifacio High Street Central. The models are Aéropostale’s new set of ambassadors, the Aéro Style League, a group of young individuals who embody the brand’s fun and hip character.

Aéropostale’s lounge and activewear collection for active teens, Live Love Dream (LLD), was highlighted at the event. The collection was designed around teens’ desire to be comfy, cozy, and cute for any activity. The lacey bandeaus, off-shoulder sweatshirts, and trendy crop tops were made for athletic girls who love to go out.

Other pieces you’ll find in their Spring collection come in feminine shades of soft coral, yellow, and pink, grounded by creamy white and olive tones. This collection is inspired by US teens’ favorite spring break getaway, and features ikat and tile prints with a soft, blurred effect. Antiqued floral prints on small and large scales are accented with embroidery and lace details. Printed rompers paired with light-weight cardigans and strappy sandals are so hot this season.

There were pieces for the boys, too, that included baseball jackets and leaf-printed jogger pants, with collections inspired by Spring Break in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1990s. The outfits come in a color palette of washed-out blues and burnt red, combined with dip-dye and tie-dye techniques for a sunset look. Stripes and plaids remain a key staple. Prints and graphics have a Miami palm tree influence with a soft color palette. Fun vacation icons are used as conversation pieces in woven shirts.
