I found that Ascott BGC is still the place to beat when it comes to a comfortable stay close to all the best The Fort has to offer.

Ascott BGC swimming pool

Bonifacio Global City is our favorite place to have a staycation whenever my fiancé Jessie visits me in Manila (we’re in an LDR, in case you’re only reading the blog now). However, for the longest time, there were very few hotel options within BGC. Good thing that has changed, and we now have Ascott Bonifacio Global City Manila as our go-to place whenever we want to treat ourselves to a staycation in our favorite part of town.

Dining and living area of our one-bedroom suite

On our first stay there, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the one-bedroom suite is so spacious—I think it’s one of the biggest we’ve stayed in ever. We could absolutely live there. It’s equipped with all the kitchen essentials for cooking our own meals, complete with a ref, stove, and oven. There’s even a washing machine, meant for long-staying guests.

The living area is so wide yet cozy. We loved just curling up in the couch at night to watch movies on the large flat-screen TV, even if there’s also one in the bedroom. And speaking of the likewise vast bedroom, the bed here is so wide and comfortable! We definitely had a good night’s sleep, and we had such a hard time getting out of bed in the morning; we just wanted to sleep in!

Hooray for two sinks and large bathroom mirrors

I have to say that I also particularly like their large and luxurious bathroom, with its wide mirror and sink area and L’Occitane toiletries. My favorite part is the bathtub, and I spent a good half hour just soaking there—I’m glad my 5’6″ frame can fit comfortably in it. View the gallery below to see the tub. And did I mention that the bathroom is connected to a spacious walk-in closet? Did I already say we could live here?

Beyond the amazing suite, the Ascott team pulled out all the stops to make our stay truly memorable and special. We were welcomed with a variety of Filipino snacks in cute jars–dried mangoes, camote chips, polvoron, etc.—arranged on the dining table. We happened to be celebrating something special during that stay, and when the staff learned of this, they brought a mini cake, a card, and some balloons to our suite. So sweet!

Other side of the swimming pool

The amenities and conveniences that made us want to stay here longer include the long lap pool—we heard a pool bar will open there, and we can’t wait to check it out, that’s the only thing missing; the fully-equipped fitness gym where there’s even space to do yoga; and the in-house restaurant Alta by renowned Chef Margarita Fores (watch for my separate feature about the dishes we tried in the Food section). This is also where they serve the hotel buffet breakfast, which has such an impressive selection of dishes. I really can’t think of anything else you’d want in a luxury serviced residence that isn’t in Ascott BGC.

Alta’s bar area

Oh, and if I may take you out of the hotel experience for a bit, the other great thing about Ascott BGC is its location: It’s right across the best night spots, restaurants, cafes, and shopping areas in BGC. Bonifacio High Street Central is right across, and it has its own cinema. The Fort Strip is also right across for more dining options and bars where you can hang out at night. If you want some entertainment for your kids, Mind Museum is a few minutes’ walk, too. I’m so glad BGC finally has a great hotel like Ascott that makes you want to stay longer at a reasonable price.
