I know a lot of Filipinas are still scared to wear red lipstick, thinking it makes them look too made up, it doesn’t suit their skin tone, or it’s just too bold for their taste. But, allow me to convince you, ladies, why red lipstick is something you can totally pull off everyday—and should.
The great thing about red lipstick for me is it’s my makeup must-have on both days when I want to look extra fab and on days I just can’t be bothered to wear that much makeup. I’m sure you like wearing red lipstick to glamorous parties and on nights out, but realize that you should also wear it on days when you need an extra lift: when you have a major presentation, when you want to make a great first impression, and when you want to stand out—we all have various days, not just nights, when we need this.

But did you realize red lipstick is also great for tamad days? When I don’t have the time to really do all the steps of my daily makeup look, I just apply concealer and eyeliner, then I swipe on red lipstick so I look instantly made up with minimal effort. And when I’m feeling EXTRA lazy (or busy, for that matter), I may do away with the concealer and eyeliner, but the red lipstick stays to perk my face up and keep me from looking like a zombie.
My go-to red lipstick shade is probably different from yours—yes, there are various shades of red, so I’m glad L’Oreal Makeup Designer Paris came up with EIGHT shades for their Color Riche Collection Star Matte Reds, from among which I’m sure you’ll find your perfect everyday red lipstick.

Collection Star Matte Reds by Color Riche has a red for every woman, featuring eight sophisticated yet wearable everyday red shades developed to fit Asian skin tones. Intense color pigments combined with matte gel technology and caring jojoba oil allow these lipsticks to deliver intense color and the most luxurious matte red finish upon application without drying your lips. One swipe does the trick; it’s so easy to apply and goes on smoothly even if it’s matte. And, it lasts long on lips with minimal retouch throughout the day.
It has never been easier to find the everyday red shade that’s perfect for the various skin tones of Filipinas. I love ALL eight shades! Actually, it’ very hard to choose which shade I like best, but Pure Rogue, Pure Brick, Pure Vermeil, and Pure Amaranthe—the most pink of all—stood out for me, based on how they complemented my skin tone. If I must choose just one, fine, it will have to be Pure Vermeil because there’s a blue undertone to it that suits my complexion and makes the red pop on my face; it’s what I find the most eye-catching.

However, I got the most compliments when I wore Pure Garnet. It actually made me more comfortable to wear this plum-red shade, which I usually shy away from—I find it too bold, even for me (it might be because I’m too pale). Since it’s matte and more on the red/wine side than plum, I liked how it looked on me.

Lip Care Tips:
1. If your lips tend to chap easily, wear lip balm underneath your favorite Matte Red shade.
2. The Matte Reds are definitely a challenge to remove. Use a lip scrub AND oil-based makeup remover to take your lipstick off before you even wash your face and brush your teeth at night, so there will be no residue on your puckers—or your toothbrush.
From an original price of P625, the lipsticks in this collection are now sold for only P400 in all L’Oréal makeup counters nationwide.
